Vaughn A. Clark, 87

Vaughn A. Clark, 87, of Bristol, widower of Sandra (Johnston) Clark, died peacefully with his family by his side at home on Saturday, Aug. 20. Vaughn was born on May 10, 1935, in Presque Isle, Maine, and was the son of the late Atwood and Mildred (Cronkite) Clark. He was raised in Presque Isle graduating from Presque Isle High School and the University of Maine at Presque Isle. He eventually would receive his master’s degree and 6th-year certificate for teaching from Central Connecticut State University. 

He was a Bristol resident since 1962 where he taught at Greene-Hills and Bingham Schools before retiring. He also wintered in Naples, Fla., for 15 years. He enjoyed playing cards: Bridge, Cribbage, and set-back; travel, hanging out with his friends: Steve Sullivan, Nancy and Lester Larrabee, and Dave Gorham, and especially loved his grandchildren. A veteran who served in the United States Army, he was a parishioner of St. Gregory the Great Church, Bristol. 

Vaughn is survived by three sons: Stuart Clark and wife, Karen of Bristol, Craig Clark and wife, Shelley of Bristol, and Patrick Clark of Portland, Maine; a brother: Gerald Clark of Presque Isle, Maine; a sister: Barbara Buchanan of Presque Isle, Maine; seven grandchildren: Jason, Jill, Bret, Brock, Peyton, Devyn, and Alivia; a great-granddaughter: Mara; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter: Jennifer Clark.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Aug. 25, at 11 a.m. at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol, followed by a private family burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol.
