Jean Jeffway

Jean (Naylor) Jeffway, 87, of Bristol, beloved wife of Thomas Jeffway, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 21, surrounded by her family.

Jean was born on Sept. 5, 1934, in Hartford and was one of five children of the late Brigadier General William Naylor, US Army (ret.) and Irene (O’Brien) Naylor.

She enjoyed spending time with family, vacationing in Ogunquit, Maine, getting her nails done and eating sweets. She was a loving and devoted mother to her four children and an amazing hands-on grandmother. Jean was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend, who adored her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband of 65 years, Jean is survived by four children: Tom Jeffway and wife, Beth of Bristol, Veronica Vitale and husband, James of Terryville, Linda Lewandoski and husband, Mark, of Terryville, and Carol Cyr and husband, Chet of Bristol; a brother: George “Tim” Naylor and wife, Barbara of Enfield; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Jean was predeceased by brothers, Richard and William Naylor, and sister, Patricia Larese.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 6, at 11 a.m. at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol. Relatives and friends may call at Funk Funeral Home on Wednesday between 10 and 11 a.m.
