The Bristol Eastern baseball team defeated Middletown on Monday, winning by the score of 7-
3, in a game played at Muzzy Field.

Eastern pitcher Anthony Nocera pitched the complete game win, scattering eight hits, walking
one, and striking out seven. Nocera gave up a run in the top of the first, and then sailed until
the Blue Dragons scored two in the sixth on three consecutive hits.

The Eastern offense came alive, scoring in each of the final four innings, while collecting 10 hits
in the game, two apiece by Gabe White, Cole Chaivanik, Owen Myers, and Mason Harris.

Trailing 1-0, the Lancers scored three runs in the bottom of the third inning. Caleb Molinsky
opened the inning with a single to right center. White then doubled to left center, putting runners
on second and third. Chaivanik grounded to third and the throw to first went wild scoring both
Molinsky and White. Myers followed with a single to left driving in Chaivanik with Eastern’s
third run of the inning.

Eastern added a run in the fourth. Caleb Molinsky walked with two outs. White was hit by a
pitch, and Chaivanik’s single to left scored Molinsky with BE’s fourth run.

In the Eastern fifth, Rio Fernandez walked with two outs. Eli Brown ran for Fernandez and
promptly stole second, and scored on Harris’s single to right. Eastern now led 5-1.

After Middletown scored two in the top of the sixth to cut the Eastern lead to 5-3, Eastern
scored two of their own in the bottom of the sixth. White singled to center with one out and
went to second on a balk. Middletown intentionally walked Ben D’Amato. Myers followed with
an infield single fielded well behind second base, scoring White, and Preston Guarda then drove
in D’Amato with a single to right.

The Lancers improved to 5-9 with the win.

They next travel to Burlington for a 3:45 game with Lewis Mills on Wednesday.

To do this we have devised a financial support structure that makes unlimited access extremely affordable, beginning with a $6 monthly donation.

  • Non-members will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Free readers and people who have subscribed by email will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Donors and financial supporters will have unlimited access as long as they log in.

Note: Donors may have to contact TBE if they find they are being limited, since we will need to set up a membership account for you. Email editor@bristoledition.org for instructions. Sorry for any inconvenience. People with financial difficulties may write editor@bristoledition.org to be considered for free access.
