St. Paul breezes by WCA in Bristol yesterday, 22-0

The St. Paul offense pounded out 12 hits and took advantage of 18 free passes (14 walks and four hit batters) to earn a 22-0 win over Waterbury Career Academy yesterday afternoon in Bristol. Senior starter Kyle Wilson picked up his fourth win of the season for St. Paul.

Wilson, along with relievers Dom Napoletano, Mike DeRosa, Arden Polverari, and Coby Dagata recorded 12 of the games 15 outs via the strikeout. Starter Leo Robles took the loss for WCA.

Among the highlights for St. Paul’s offense were two home runs: a two-run homer by junior captain Cal Chance in the first inning to give St. Paul a 2-0 lead, and a grand slam by senior captain Alden Polverari in the fourth inning. Polverari was two for two on the day with six RBIs and two runs scored.

Chase Boudreau was 2 for 3 with 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored

Tony DeSena was 1 for 1 with a double, 1 RBI, and 4 runs scored

Nate Barrett was 1 for 3 with a double, 4 RBIs, and 2 runs scored

For WCA Rocco Zenick, Sergio Cholac, Michael Stellmach, and Isaiah Santiago all had singles.
